America's Favorite LivingSocial Deals

America's Favorite LivingSocial Deals

Have you ever wondered if anyone actually purchased that LivingSocial deal for botox or pole dancing that you remember reading in bed while you were checking your emails before you got in the shower? They had 24 hours to make the choice and according to this week's release by Living Social of their 2nd Quarter report [April - June], it is certain that these deals were and are being scooped up by the thousands! I am a huge fan of a great deal as most of you already know and think that paying retail for anything, especially for food, fitness & entertainment is completely unnecessary.

I found the 2nd Quarter information quite interesting because it’s interesting to see what deals Americans’ are obsessed with, as well as the trends in the marketplace.

Youth Team Developing Technology in Acadia

ACADIA NATIONAL PARK—The world is quickly changing with technology creeping into every aspect of daily life.  A January 2010 Kaiser Family Foundation study determined that young people, ages 8-18, spend on average 7.5 hours every day using electronic media, whether television, computers, cell phones, or other devices.  Simultaneously, youth are spending much less time exploring the outdoors, potentially leading to future generations with less appreciation and connection to national parks and other natural resources.

This summer, Friends of Acadia and the National Park Service are working together to bridge this gap through an innovative project to find new ways to engage young people with Acadia and the outdoors through technology.  The Acadia Youth Technology Team, four high-school-aged interns and two leaders, have been working together since late June to generate ideas on how to use technology in the park.

There’s Trouble in River City… Yes, the critically acclaimed Broadway classic, The Music Man marches onto the Ogunquit Playhouse stage July 20 through August 20. Starring Emmy Award winner Peter Scolari as Harold Hill, Meredith Willson’s all-American favorite follows the fast-talking traveling salesman as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a town band he vows to organize – this despite the fact he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef!
