Driver killed when logging truck rolls over him and into Pizza hut

SKOWHEGAN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The driver of a logging truck was killed Monday when the truck rolled over him and into a restaurant in Skowhegan.

Edward Blais, Skowhegan's police chief, says Mike Morin, the owner of truck, stopped at the Pizza Hut on Madison Avenue/U.S. 201 for lunch. Blais says it appears Morin got out of the truck and walked toward the restaurant when the truck rolled over him and into the restaurant.

State Police examined the truck, which has been removed from the Pizza Hut. Crews have boarded up the spot where the truck hit the building.

Log truck driver killed by his own truck in Skowhegan

SKOWHEGAN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A logging truck driver died in a bizarre crash Monday after he was run over by his own truck while stopping to get lunch at a Skowhegan restaurant. Skowhegan and State Police are investigating the crash which took the life of 59 year old Michael Morin of Oakland. According to authorities, he parked his logging truck at the Pizza Hut and was heading into the restaurant when the truck rolled forward and crashed into the restaurant, going through a  wall and killing him in the process. The big question authorities must determine now is what went wrong.

"They (state police investigators) were looking at the truck to see what would cause it to roll down to the building and at this point I don't have an answer for you as to why this happened but it really is an unfortunate accident this guy was stopping for lunch and he was struck by his own truck,"  Explained Skowhegan Police Chief Ted Blais.

"The Joker" charged with driving drunk in Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD, Maine (AP) - Police didn't need Batman to help them arrest the Joker in central Maine over the weekend.

A man returning from a Halloween party and wearing makeup like the Joker was charged with drunken driving after crashing his car in Pittsfield early Sunday.

Police say 64-year-old Dennis Lalime lost control of his car at about 2 a.m., then struck multiple trees and rocks before coming to a rest. Lalime wasn't injured.

The Morning Sentinel reports that a nearby homeowner heard the crash and called police, who arrested Lalime on an operating under the influence charge.

In his booking photo, Lalime's face is painted white, with dark circles around his eyes, and his hair is dyed bright green, just like the villain in the Batman series.

A working telephone number couldn't be located for Lalime.
