Winner of the SV Work Health Business Summer Slim Down Challenge | Events
Sebasticook Valley Health (SVH) is pleased to announce that Skills, Inc. is this year’s winner of the SV Work Health Business Summer Slim Down Challenge. The winning team, “Pounding Pounds,” reported a 13% total weight loss or 468 pounds during the 10-week challenge, which was coordinated by Sebasticook Valley Work Health.
“For the second year in a row, the SV Work Health Business Summer Slim Down provides a friendly competition for local businesses to promote weight loss and encourage overall wellness for their employees,” said SVH President/CEO and EMHS Senior Vice President Terri Vieira. The business that loses the highest percentage of weight among participating employees earns a plaque for display at the place of business as well as a gift card to the community food bank of their choice. The plaque was presented to Maegan Trask on behalf of Skills, Inc., and Patricia Martin accepted the $100 gift card for the Tri-Town Food Cupboard in Hartland, which Skills, Inc. selected as the recipient of the $100 donation.
Kathleen Fox, Human Resources Director at Skills, Inc. added, “The Summer Slim Down gave both our employees and the people that our agency supports a friendly challenge that not only created a sense of team within different areas of our organization but also helped participants achieve healthy results.”
According to Judy Alton, Director of the Tri-Town Food Cupboard, the donation will enable the food cupboard to purchase a larger quantity of food through the Good Shepherd Food Bank. The Tri-County Food Cupboard has been serving families in need throughout Hartland, St. Albans and Palmyra for over 20 years.
