Amy Paquette was doing an exercise video with a friend when all of a sudden she had blurred vision and a headache — a bad, bad headache. After a night of agony, she went to the emergency room. "They said I had vertigo and sent me home," she says. "I called my own doctor, who sent me to a neurologist. I had a CT scan that came back normal, but the headache wouldn't go away."

The Mount Desert Island and Tremont Historical Societies announce the opportunity to visit Placentia Island, where Art and Nan Kellam lived for nearly 40 years. The visit will include transportation to the island, guided exploration of a few major Kellam sites on the island and information about the Kellams’ lives there. Total duration of each trip will be about 3 hours.

Due to great interest, several trips are planned. The initial trip on August 11 will leave Bass Harbor at 9:00 am on the excursion vessel R.L. Gott. Additional trips will leave Bass Harbor on August 16, 17 and 18 at 9:00 am and 1:00 pm on College of the Atlantic’s MV Osprey.
